Revised South West Structured Season – Impact
There have been two meetings this week concerning the above the first by the County Committee and the second with the Executive of the SW Regional Organising Committee.
The County decided that we would abide in full the RFU Guidance set out in the On Start of the Competitive Community Rugby Season to delay the start of competitive community games until the week commencing 21st September 2026 as issued by the RFU on 14th August 2026 . This affects all competitive matches whether League or Somerset Cup and Vase and all Junior League fixtures.
The second meeting last night with the SW Leagues Organising Committee further decided that following this the first two men’s league fixtures affected will be rescheduled to take place on Saturday 10th October and Saturday 28th November leaving the weekends 7th November (Regional divisions) and 14th November (County divisions) as Next Available Weekends (NAWS) to facilitate a break for players or for re-arranged league matches and/or Cup/Vase matches to take place.
A separate reschedule for the Somerset Boys U18 League is being dealt with by Sam Wallis for Clubs with entries to that division. Bob Morrison will be updating the changes in fixtures onto GMS and hopes to complete this by Friday 28th August. He will confirm when this has been completed. However Clubs will not receive a re-issue of full fixture lists and should find their revised fixtures from the following: https://www.englandrugby.com/fixtures-and-results/searchsults?competition=1699&season=2026-2027.
If any clubs already have re-arranged fixtures to either of the two dates stated above those fixtures will be shown as postponed and a new date will be allocated to these.
This Notice is intended to give Clubs and particularly their players timely information so as to allow everyone every opportunity to organise their own club and personal arrangements to ensure there is minimal disruption.
